Missions Team
The purpose of the Missions Team is to empower a dynamic cultural lifestyle of active personal and congregational mission within MLC’s congregation, enabling each person to live out their faith both locally and abroad. The Missions Team has the responsibility to identify missions and ministries for funding and participation; promote and coordinate mission/service opportunities; plan and implement quarterly Mission Emphasis Sundays at MLC.
Matthew 25:37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you something to drink?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”
Eugene H. Peterson in “Leap Overa a Wall” poignantly reminds us that God reveals himself to us not in a metaphysical formation or a cosmic fireworks display…but through life…names, fingerprints, street numbers, what’s for dinner, a flat tire in the rain. The gritty ordinary organically connected details of every day living.
Finding and sharing God’s love with one another in the midst of the details of life, ordinary or poignant, at home or abroad.
After prayerful and thoughtful consideration, for 2009 the Missions Team has decided to concentrate a majority of its budget and time toward local Christian relief organizations which include South County Outreach and Salvation Army Orange County. Both have been rocked by the recession and both have a long, unsung history of feeding, clothing and caring for residents of Orange County. We ask for your prayerful support and participation in these ministries. Through your active prayer, support and participation, you will share that same sense of hope and joy - in Jesus’ name. Amen!
