Mothers Of children with Diabetes
M.O.D. Squad stands for “Mothers of Children with Diabetes.” It is a group that meets monthly to share, educate, support and inspire one another as each member navigates their own personal journey raising children with type 1 diabetes. The monthly meetings generally consist of a guest speaker who shares relevant information about some aspect of diabetes, such as school district nurses/administrators, family psychologists, authors, doctors and nurses in the field of endocrinololy. Mom are encouraged to share their own stories and circumstances in a loving and understanding environment. O.O.D. Squad was founded by Marlene Hutchinson in 2006, shortly after her own daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 15. The group currently has over 200 registered members.
Meetings are held the first Thursday of every month (October-June) from 8:30 am to 10:00 am at Mission Lutheran Church.
